The source code to get the index of the first occurrence of specified substring is given below. The given program is compiled and executed on the ubuntu 18.04 operating system successfully.

// first occurrence of specified substring

object Sample {
  def main(args: Array[String]) {
    var str: String = "Banana";
    var index: Int = 0;

    index = str.indexOf("na");
    printf("Index of first occurrence of substring 'na' is: %d\n", index);
  }
}

Output:

Index of first occurrence of substring 'na' is: 2

In the above program, we used an object-oriented approach to create the program. And, we created an object Sample. Here, we defined main() function. The main() function is the entry point for the program.

In the main() function, we created a string variable str with the initial value "Banana". Then we got the index of the first occurrence of specified substring using the indexOf() method. After that, we printed the result on the console screen.
