Program/Source Code:

The source code to print the current date is given below. The given program is compiled and executed on the ubuntu 18.04 operating system successfully.

// Scala program to print current date

import java.util.Calendar;

object Sample {
  def main(args: Array[String]) {
    val now = Calendar.getInstance()

    val DD = now.get(Calendar.DATE)
    val MM = now.get(Calendar.MONTH)
    val YYYY = now.get(Calendar.YEAR)

    printf("Current Date: %02d-%02d-%04d\n", DD, MM, YYYY);
  }
}

Output:

Current Date: 10-04-2021

Explanation:

In the above program, we used an object-oriented approach to create the program. And, we imported the Calendar class using the below statement.

import java.util.Calendar;

Then we created a singleton object Sample and defined the main() function. The main() function is the entry point for the program.

In the main() function, we get the instance of Calendar class using Calendar.getInstance() method. Then we get DATEMONTHYEAR using the get() method. After that, we printed the current time on the console screen.
