Program/Source Code:

The source code to read the content of a specified directory and check directories and files is given below. The given program is compiled and executed on the ubuntu 18.04 operating system successfully.

// Golang program to read the content of a
// specified directory and check directories and files

package main

import "fmt"
import "io/ioutil"

func main() {
	result, err := ioutil.ReadDir("MyDir")
	if err != nil {
		panic(err)
	}

	fmt.Println("Content of MyDir direcory:")
	for _, val := range result {
		if val.IsDir() == true {
			fmt.Printf("\tDirectory: '%s'\n", val.Name())
		} else {
			fmt.Printf("\tFile: '%s'\n", val.Name())
		}
	}
}

Output:

Content of MyDir directory:
	File: 'ABC.txt'
	File: 'data.bin'
	File: 'file.bin'
	Directory: 'sample'

Explanation:

In the above program, we declare the package main. The main package is used to tell the Go language compiler that the package must be compiled and produced the executable file. Here, we imported the fmtio/ioutil packages then we can use a function related to the fmt and io/ioutil package.

In the main() function, we listed the content of the directory using ioutil.ReadDir() and print the list of files and directories on the console screen.
