c. The use of amiodarone in shock-refractory VF is believed to improve survival. Experts believe that in VF or pulseless VT resistant to three shocks there is a role for amiodarone. Initially 300mg intravenously should be given before continuing with shocks. The UK Resuscitation Council suggests that a further dose of 150mg may be given for recurrent or refractory VF/VT followed by an infusion of 900mg over the next 24 hours.
