d. Gardnerella vaginalis produces an offensive brown discharge, it causes an inflammation of the vagina in women or the glans penis in men. It often results in dysuria. Both chlamydia and gonorrhoea result in urethritis. Whilst most infections can be distinguished by colour or quality of discharge the most reliable method is by taking appropriate swabs.
