Patients with kidney transplants live longer than patients on dialysis. Most kidney transplant recipients report a better quality of life than on dialysis. It gives you an opportunity to live a more normal life.

Talk with your nephrologist about referring you to a kidney transplant program for evaluation. Patients on dialysis or patients with advanced chronic kidney disease (creatinine clearance less than 30 mL/min) can be evaluated for transplantation.
