B. There is a very high association with aortoiliac and popliteal aneurysms.

DISCUSSION: By definition, a true aneurysm involves the intima, media, and adventitia. Femoral aneurysms are very often associated with other aneurysms, ranging from 70% to 95% in most reports. They are most commonly associated with aortoiliac or popliteal aneurysms. Approximately 50% of femoral aneurysms are bilateral. Type I femoral aneurysms are limited to the common femoral artery; type II aneurysms involve the orifice of the deep femoral artery. Rupture of femoral artery aneurysms is rare. The most common complications are due to thrombosis, embolism, or local compression.
