DISCUSSION: Increased attention is being given to inflammatory aortic abdominal aneurysms. These are characterized by aneurysms surrounded by dense periaortic inflammation and at times involvement of surrounding structures such as the duodenum, renal vein, and ureter. This problem occurs in some 7% to 10% of patients undergoing aneurysmectomy.
