A. AML with inv(l 6) may be associated with extramedullary involvement and indeed has been reported in 10% to 20% of patients. Chemotherapy and radiation may be used in the manage-ment of extramedullary AML. The prognostic significance of extramedullar AML is not well defined (!CO. 1 995; 1 3(7):1800-1 8 16, Blood. 201 1; 118(14):3785-3793).
