Measuring serum concentrations of renin and aldosterone differentiates children With metabolic alkalosis

(A). Aldosterone is high and renin is low in patients with adrenal adenomas or hyperplasia and glucocorticoid-remediable aldosteronism. Renin and aldosterone are low in children with Cushing syndrome, Liddle syndrome, licorice ingestion, 17a-hydroxylase deficiency,11B-hydroxvlase deficiency, and 11B-hydroxysteroid dehydrogenase deficiency.
